Soldier Lost His Sight While Serving in the Army: Legal Action Against the Ministry of Defense

Mr. Mikheil served in the military under a contract at the Kutaisi 3rd Brigade, holding the rank of Corporal, and his specialty was Shooter.

In 2007, Mr. Mikheil Vakhangis Dzveli Amaghlobeli was injured while on duty, losing the vision in his right eye. Despite the injury, he has not received any compensation or assistance. When he approached the commission for support, he was told that he needed to have 30% loss of vision in the other eye in order to qualify for a pension.

As of now, his condition is worsening, and he is at risk of losing sight in his second eye as well. He is currently unemployed, has a family to support, and is struggling with bank debts. Mr. Amaghlobeli, a former soldier, was dismissed from service after his injury, and to this day, he has not received any assistance from the state.

A legal case has been initiated, and in the coming days, we will file a lawsuit against the Ministry of Defense of Georgia and the Ministry of Finance for compensation in six-digit amounts and ongoing monthly support. We will also demand coverage for medical expenses.

When a soldier loses their sight while serving, the state must take responsibility and care for them and their family!
